• On the road again.

Last week I started running again. I’m starting off slowly – letting my lungs and my knees adapt to it. I’m not fond of the cold but it’s been an unusually mild January so it hasn’t been too bad.
Friday night is the Chinese New Year party at Nation. Should be fun – I haven’t been there in months.
This past weekend I saw Hoodwinked and really enjoyed it. A fun clever and new look at the Litte Red Riding Hood story.

  • Happy New Year!

2006 is here! It’s been a long time since I posted. I got bronchitis back in early November and have really been having a hard time completely kicking it. I need to get back to a regular running routine – the Shamrock 5K is in 2 months! I have to admit it’s my favorite race and a great way to start off the year. Usually January and February are too cold for me to do much outdoor running but March marks the time I start getting back outside, running, enjoying the fresh air and getting some sunshine.
I tend to “hibernate” in the winter months and was hoping to kick that habit this year but it didn’t quite work out that way. Oh well, maybe next year.
In other news, Mirrormask comes out on DVD February 14th. it was an awesome movie so I’m really looking forward to it.

    > ?

    Help. Available commands are:

    1. T – train for a spring/summer marathon
      • Due to spring injury, training for Fall marathon was aborted. Choosing this option will allow you to resume training and run a marathon in the spring or early summer of 2006. This will involve maintaining a base mileage through the fall and then beginning long training runs during cold weather in February and March. This option increases your physical stats and recreational stats. Other stats remain unaffected.
    2. C – resume classes towards Master’s Degree
      • Due to originally planned marathon training for this fall, no classes were scheduled for this semester. Choosing this option will allow you to resume taking classes in the spring of 2006. This will preclude serious physical training and will adversely affect friendships and recreational activities. This option increases your mental stats, while decreasing your recreational stats. Other stats remain unaffected.

    You are at a crossroads.

  • Did someone say “Ice Cream”?

    MMmmmmmmmmmm………………………………
My biggest weakness/vice is ice cream. Not the best thing for you, but hey – that’s why it’s a vice :-)
Saturday I discovered one of the best ice cream places I’ve been to yet:
York Castle Ice cream in Washington, DC.
They don’t seem to have a webpage, but there’s some information here and here.

I went specifically for the Guinness ice cream, and it was really good. Then I had the Mango and it was even better! To top it off we got pints of mango, banana and passion fruit to go so we could enjoy them during half-time over a game of Liverpool. The crowd favorite was the passion fruit flavor which was very fresh with a nice citrus flavor coupled with a very creamy texture.
    I’ll definitely be going back!

In other (possibly related) news, I picked up a pair of Brooks Beast running shoes yesterday. Ran 2 1/2 miles in them this morning and they felt great. Excellent way to start working off all that ice cream yesterday.
