• New PR!

I managed to pull off a PR running the Port to Fort 6k on Sunday! I completed the course in 28:48, for a pace of 7:45. I really hadn’t expected to beat last year’s time, but somehow I managed.
This was also Bill’s first race – ever. :-) He ran the whole thing without walking which is a huge feat for his first race. I’m really proud of him for doing this, it’s a great acheivement. :-)
This coming weekend I won’t be running much, but the next weekend is the Bay Bridge 10k.
It’ll be my longest race this year yet, and a LONG uphill, followed by a LONG downhill. Did I mention I haven’t been doing any hill workouts yet this year?
My near-term goal is going to be to shift from these shorter races to focusing on marathon training for the fall. Speed workouts at the track on Wednesday nights and long runs on the weekend with cross training (cycling mostly) the other weekend day.

  • Busy weekend

    This weekend was great!
First up was the CSA 8k race in DC on Saturday.
I finished in 40:36 which equates to a pace of 8:10 – pretty good for me on this course, I beat last year’s time by 2:30.
I wore the Forerunner to track my pace and stats while running. I didn’t look at my heart rate while running and I’m glad I didn’t – it was in the high 170’s the whole race!
Then Sunday Bill and I did a short 3 mile recovery run on the course of the Port to Fort 6k this coming Sunday, and I was able to talk him into signing up for it too.
Yesterday Jon and I did a 40 mile bike ride on the BWI and B&A trails in Baltimore.
It was an excellent weekend – we need more nice weekends like this one :-)
